DIGHA
About 185 kms. south west of Kolkata, on the Bay of Bengal, is the quiet beach town of Digha. Described as the 'Brighton of the East best for a holiday. Digha has a low gradient with a shallow sand beach with gentle
waves extends 7 kms in length. In Digha sea starts about a mile away from the start of the beach. The scenic beauty of this
place is charming and luring. The beach is girdled with casuarinas plantations along the coast enhancing the beauty of this
place. These trees apart from beautifying the sands also aid in reducing the erosion on the dunes.
MANDARMONI / MANDARMANI
Mandarmani is a beach resort in Purba Medinipur district of South Bengal, one of the southern districts
of West Bengal. It is almost 180km from Kolkata and just 15km from Chaulkhola on the Kolkata-Digha route. Thousand small crabs
crawl around the 13 kms long virgin beach making it look like a simmering field of the red flower mandar. Years ago the resemblance
ignited the imagination of the locals, they named it Mandarboni. In course of time it has become Mandarmoni.
SANKARPUR
Shankarpur has to its credit all the advantages of Digha,
minus the crowd. Shankarpur is only 14 km. east of Digha, along the Digha – Contai Road. It can boast of a wide and
unspoiled beach, caesarian groves by the side of a gentle sea and a good climate round the year. It is also a regular fishing
